SMS Triggers Snowing Billboard Displays

February 21st, 2011

A new use of SMS gateway trigger implemented across Norway attempts to advertise Norway’s Tryvann Winter Park ski resort and proves both interactive and trendy. The billboards are connected to online SMS which sends an SMS trigger when snow is falling in the ski resort. The trigger makes snow appear in the billboard display – alerting those passing by of the ideal skiing conditions and reminding them it’s time to take a short vacation on the slopes.

Implementing a unique and smart PC SMS solution that makes it possible to create a mini snowstorm inside transparent billboards, conveniently placed at transportation stops, commuters hopping off the trains are reminded that while their downtown environment may be free of snow, Tyrvann could be a delightful snowy wonder with perfect ski conditions.

This unique bulk SMS solution is implemented across Oslo and advertises a ski resort that is just 15 minutes outside Oslo. Some business owners have expressed concern about high numbers of employees ditching work to go skiing.

When the snow stops falling at Tryvann Winter Park, the snow on the billboard stops as well. Of course by that time, the message has already been clearly transmitted.

US and UK Markets Still Leading the Number of Text Messages

February 21st, 2011

According to the latest International Communications Market 2009 report, which is published every other year, UK consumers are the second highest business SMS services and mass SMS services continue to grow with the higher availability of phones that offer a number of flashier features. With the rapidly rising number of smartphones, which offer even more networking features including access to Facebook and Twitter, plus more business options including Outlook SMS options, it seems that the trend will continue to grow. Consumers and business owners are now looking into all possible options for implementing SMS into a direct two-way communication method between businesses and customers, including healthcare, retail, technology, industries and many more.

Plus, with the rising costs of virtually everything in both the UK and the US markets, more businesses are looking into SMS wholesale accounts for some of the best prices on mass SMS solutions to boost sales and increase their marketing reach. All of this is great news for the UK and US consumers as well, because it drives the prices on mobile devices down to some of the lowest in the world.

Dutch Insurer Warns Clients about Icy Roads by Text Message

November 3rd, 2010

Recently, a Dutch automobile insurance company, Onna-onna, implemented an innovative text message service alert system to inform their insured drivers when the roads in their area are icy or severe weather is eminent. Using weather warnings issued by the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, this up-to-date car insurance company, who focuses exclusively on female drivers, sends text message alerts free of charge to their clients who’ve chosen to sign up for them.

Attempting to reduce the number of automobile accidents due to severe weather such as heavy wind, severe thunderstorms, and icy driving conditions, Onna-onna’s efforts to promote road safety and keep their clients safe have proven to have broad appeal among their clients. While reducing the number of accidents is good for any insurer’s financial bottom line, Onna-onna’s unique implementation of the use of mass text messaging has shown to be a powerful method of customer communication for relatively little expense. This forward-thinking insurer is planning to introduce additional text messaging services in the future as well.

While text messaging weather conditions to policy holders is a very new concept for the insurance industry, Onna-Onna’s unique approach should help reduce weather-related traffic accidents for their clients. Onna-Onna’s direct approach to helping their clients should also have the additional effect of improving their own bottom line at the same time. As companies across the globe work to build their unique brand and forge meaningful relationships with their current customers and new clients, bulk texting and text message services is proving a highly cost-effective and efficient method of nurturing customer relationships. How can you use bulk text messaging to share useful and relevant information with your clients and customers?

How are you engaging your customers?

October 29th, 2010

As U.S. cell phones and mobile devices are increasingly used more for data and less for voice calls, the message to businesses is coming through loud and clear: consumers prefer multiple channel options as they interact with businesses.

Short Message Service, or SMS, is now the most widely used data application across the globe. Businesses that actively incorporate SMS messaging into their consumer communication models are able to reach a wider number of consumers with a variety of useful and timely messages, including appointment reminders, payment notifications, coupons, and more.

The break-through effect of text messaging has proven to be an exceptionally effective communication channel for businesses who wish to communicate quickly and directly with their customers. This method of customer communication has the near immediate effect of increasing customer loyalty as well as driving fresh brand awareness.

Business owners across the U.S. are lagging behind those in the U.K. with respect to adopting text messaging services as a method of consumer communication. Recent consumer research on payment reminder methods shows that one in three consumers choose SMS as their preferred communication channel in the U.K, but only one in 10 chose the same channel in the U.S. Partly, this is due to the fact that text messaging is not yet a service offered by most U.S. companies but that’s rapidly changing – and for good reason.

While consumer research indicates that three quarters of all consumers use coupons to determine shopping decisions, it also revealed that a very high percentage of mobile users would be interested in receiving coupons, special offers, or promotions on their mobiles while shopping. In addition, many businesses are noticing that mobile coupon redemption rates are as high as 25 percent. With coupons delivered in seconds via text messaging software and redeemed by the consumer quickly after, no other advertising channel is currently as effective at reaching interested consumers in a specific context.

E-mails are often lost or overlooked in stuffed inboxes, and with the high level of mobile phone penetration in the U.S., business-to-consumer text messaging is increasingly becoming the most effective method of consumer communication. SMS has the power to help you reach customers with highly effective results, so how are you engaging your customers today?
